June 30 at TFM: Conclusion of the 2024 CMOC TFM-KFM Football Tournament and Celebration of the 64th Anniversary of the Independence of the DRC
The 2024 edition of the CMOC TFM-KFM football tournament concluded in Fungurume on June 27, 2024, with a royal display of the sport. The first women's match, officiated by Davina Ntimin, ended with a score of one goal to zero in favor of FC Ncheko. The second final was a nail-biter, culminating in a penalty shootout where the White Sharks, White Shark of MIS, emerged victorious. After this historic final, all guests were invited to the grand celebration of the 64th anniversary of the independence of the DRC at the Mikuba camp social club at Tenke Fungurume Mining.
The tournament ceremony began with the presentation of the five best teams in the competition: KFM-2, OC Ncheko, OC Furaha, FC Nyota, and FC White Shark. To properly mark this finale, a pre-match photo session was held. According to the observations of coaches and many sports participants, this final was exceptional, unique, and distinctly memorable. It was graced for the first time by the CEO of CMOC, Mr. Sun Ruiwen, a distinguished guest of TFM, who majestically opened the CMOC TFM-KFM football tournament along with the mayor of Fungurume, at the Mikuba camp Bravo field in Fungurume under a festive sun.
Every effort was made to launch the two finals: first, the women's match between OC Ncheko and OC Furaha, and second, the match between FC White Shark MIS and Nyota Sécurité. These grand finals captured the attention of all spectators present at the stadium, eager to experience the magic of football. In the first match, the OC Ncheko women secured a victory with a score of one to zero (1-0), bringing total joy to the TFM female footballers in front of their president, Mrs. Alice Kabedi.
In the second match, FC Nyota, the security department team, was defeated by the White Sharks of MIS in a dramatic penalty shootout with a final score of 3-2. This was a bitter disappointment for Patrick Zhou's men, who were dominated throughout the match. Pitchou Kumwimba's youth shone brightly in this final of the 2024 CMOC TFM-KFM football tournament. Despite aiming for a new accolade, FC Nyota was ultimately outperformed by the MIS engineers, who dominated from the start.

In the fifth minute, Christian Mwamba, in a good position, missed a goal, with the post saving the security team. After some timid offensive attempts from both sides, Nyota players had their first real chance, but it was unsuccessful. White Shark maintained the pressure in the penalty area, but without results. Referee Alain Kilikwa awarded a corner to FC White Shark, but the score remained unchanged at the end of the first half.
Football enthusiasts were right to be present at the Mikuba camp field to witness the match between FC White Shark MIS and Nyota Sécurité. The White Sharks, dominant in both halves, could not outshine Nyota's Stars, who were surprisingly underwhelming, overwhelmed by the stakes, and shaken by the physical prowess of the talented MIS engineers. "The final is won, not played," as football lovers say.
After halftime, the White Sharks returned with better incursions and ambitions. Despite several attempts, they failed to secure the golden goal towards victory. As pressure continued to build on the Security defense, numerous efforts by Mwamba kept the nets untouched. Ultimately, after a missed free kick, the Security team managed to get back into the game with a formidable collective action, but without success. After a frenzied end to the match and three minutes of additional time, the two teams were separated by a particularly nerve-wracking penalty shootout.
In the penalty shootout, both MIS engineers and Nyota Stars missed their first attempts. However, the second shooters successfully converted their penalties. The third MIS shooter missed, and Nyota's shooter scored, a very cruel outcome for the White Sharks, who had already printed champion polos worn by supporters at the field, singing and displaying dances from Lubumbashi animation groups. Lady Luck favored the White Sharks, with FC Nyota losing 3-2 to MIS in a tragic penalty shootout.
These finals were attended by political and administrative authorities from Fungurume and Tenke, traditional chiefs of the concession, the TFM union delegation, TFM general management, the KFM CAO, the tournament organizing committee, and TFM employees. It should be noted that the men's third-place match was won by FC KFM-2, defeating FC KFM-1, both teams from CMOC Kisanfu Mining.
Before the final, TFM CEO Wang Hanyuan praised the determination and sportsmanship shown by all teams, both female and male, on the field, emphasizing the unity that makes us strong. "We are TFM, we are KFM, we are CMOC, we are one; firmly and in unison pursuing the ultimate goal: to answer the call of history. A history we are writing together for the DRC, for China, for Africa, and for future generations," he said.
Several individual distinctions were awarded. In the Best Player category, Christian Mwamba of FC White Shark of MIS won with a difference of 7 goals scored, and for women, Micheline Kalenga of OC Ncheko won with 4 goals. In the Best Coach category, Michel Kyadi of OC Ncheko for women and Pitchou Kumwimba of White Shark for men took home the medals. These activities are, for TFM and its general manager, a way to cultivate living together and sharing common values. Referee Paulin Muvuma was awarded and demonstrated a golden whistle.
A football final marked by the colors of the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the independence of the Democratic Republic of Congo. To make the event even more enjoyable, all distinguished guests, including political and administrative authorities and TFM concession traditional chiefs, joined the TFM general management in the evening to celebrate the DRC's national and international independence.
In his speech, CPO Wu Shenggen, on behalf of the TFM general management, thanked the local authorities for agreeing to join TFM in celebrating this 64th anniversary of the independence of the DRC. "We would like to thank you for responding to the invitation to celebrate this day, marking the commemoration of the independence of our dear and great country," he said. Local authorities also delivered their speeches. The deputy mayor of the commune of Fungurume, Aline Makano Tshilombo, and the Nguba grouping chief, Mwami Nguba, each praised the collaborative climate with TFM and hoped to see it further strengthened.
The TFM 2024 football tournament, coupled with the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the DRC's independence, concluded in a festive and family atmosphere.
